Bugs and site status

We should probably have a page (and comments) for bug reports and site status info; viola, here it is. Please feel free to report bugs below.

Sit tight, temporarily-disruptive changes are afoot on the site that hosts Nevada County Voices, such that the page update script isn’t running. Hopefully it’ll be straightened out soon….

  2. Anna Says:

It’s working again, or should be…

  3. Anna Says:

…Isn’t. But will be again, by 1:30p?

  4. Anna Says:

Sierra Cinemas film-scraping had broken; fixed it.

  5. Anna Says:

The server’s been offline at least a couple times today; not sure if it’s my scripts or something else. I’ve got a support request in, asking; hopefully the reliability will return to its former stellar state.

  6. Anna Says:

Mon a.m. (and perhaps Sunday) – the aggregator script was intolerant of something in The Union’s news feed, the outcome being that TU’s news didn’t show up. I have fixed the script.

  7. Anna Says:

The NCVoices weather info looks screwy sometimes – apparently because the Natl Weather Service page that we read from seems periodically to contain the wrong content. I’ll try to track this down.

And I have an email in, to find out what’s (not) up with the GV PM2.5 monitor; the Sac PM2.5 page hasn’t been including ours because it (ours) has had problems.

  8. Anna Says:

I’d been using the wrong (old) URLs for Tom McClintock’s blog and feed; updated the script to use correct new URLs.

  9. Anna Says:

Fixed the “weird weather parsing” problem once and for all (I hope), by getting the “mobile” version of the page, instead of the fuller service version. But there’s a downside to this, namely the mobile version doesn’t provide wind info.

    “Local fire” section issues -

NCVoices has a “local fires” section, during fire season; I’d like to include The Union’s fire blog there, but they mostly post about nonlocal fires. So I’ll try moving the posts from their fireblog over to the “Union opinion/blogs” section, but still leave a link to their blog up in the “local fires” section, to make it easy for you to check.

If you’d like The Union to have a local-only fire blog, please let them know.

My newest post at farstars has been up 40 minutes or so, still not showing on NCVoices.us. Are you on a longer delay now? Use to take 5 to 10 minutes max.

    Doug

  12. Anna Says:

Hi Doug – the page is supposed to update once per hour, starting about 20 minutes in; so the first thing to do if you’re wondering if yours got overlooked is to check the page’s “last updated” time, at top center of the page.
(and perhaps I should make the time a little more conspicuous…)

  13. Anna Says:

(And it’s always been an hour, I think; I guess you’ve just been lucky, before.)

  14. Anna Haynes Says:

Sorry; being hacked by some cretinous script; trying to figure it out. Meanwhile, if you’re using NoScript you might consider disabling scripting on the site, just to be safe.
